WINTER ADVENTURE CONTEST

2018Press Releases

Cap-aux-Meules, December 21, 2018

“CRAZY ABOUT WINTER ON THE MAGDALEN ISLANDS” CONTEST

The Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine marketing team has officially announced the closing of the “Crazy about winter on the Magdalen Islands” contest and is very satisfied with its success.

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine and its partners teamed up to offer a winter experience that gives two people the opportunity to enjoy not only the Magdalen Islands in winter, but also the one-of-a-kind experience of watching seal pups on the pack ice, an activity that has been available to the public for over 30 years on the Islands and is a must for nature lovers.

The contest, promoted through social media and the different Magdalen Island tourism newsletters, not only resonated among people fond of the Islands, but was also intended as a way of promoting winter and its activities on the archipelago. We can declare “mission accomplished” based on the comments left by website visitors and the large number of people who entered this first winter contest.

A total of 11 ,521 people entered the contest. This participation rate exceeded the expectations of the Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine marketing team, who were pleasantly surprised by the results achieved, as the contest focused on winter on the Islands, an aspect that most of our May-to-October visitors are unfamiliar with.

Following a random draw, the winner of the contest, whose prize is a trip to the archipelago, including round-trip transportation with CTMA Ferry, as well as the “Winter adventure and seal-pup-watching” package from Château Madelinot, the owner of Hôtels Accents, is Mr. Roger Fiola of Pointe-aux-Trembles, Quebec.

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine extends sincere thanks to Hôtels Accents and CTMA for their collaboration, as well as to all those who entered the contest, for their interest in the destination in winter.

Seal pup watching will take place on the Magdalen Islands from February 21 to March 18, 2019.
